Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the formation of blood clots within a deep vein, predominantly in the legs. Symptoms include lower extremity swelling, redness, warmth, and pain. In more severe cases, clots may detach and travels to the lungs resulting in a pulmonary embolism, which can be a potentially life-threating medical emergency.
